Care, connection, and community power.
A.R.I.S.E. Appalachia believes strong communities are built when people have access to the support, care, and information they need to thrive. This page is a growing hub of trusted resources for our neighbors across Appalachia—whether you’re looking for health care, education, support, or ways to take action.
We will continue to expand this page as we grow partnerships and add local providers, mutual aid groups, and community-based organizations.
Health & Sexual Education
Everyone deserves access to accurate, stigma-free health information and quality care.
Through our partnership with Planned Parenthood, and other trusted providers, we help connect people to:
Reproductive and sexual health care
Birth control and STI testing
Gender-affirming care
Cancer screenings
Sexual education and consent resources
These services are especially important in rural Appalachia, where clinics are often far away and misinformation is widespread.
LGBTQIA+ Support
LGBTQIA+ people deserve to live openly, safely, and with dignity in every Appalachian community.
We support access to:
Affirming health care
Mental health support
Gender-affirming resources
Youth and family support networks
Community spaces where people can be themselves
No one should have to leave home to be accepted.
We encourage you to check out Sevier LQBTQ+ Neighbors and Tennessee Equality Project!
Support for Families Facing Poverty
Many Appalachian families face economic hardship because of low wages, lack of affordable housing, and underfunded services. We work to connect people to:
Housing and utility support
Transportation help
Health coverage and public benefits
Mutual aid and emergency assistance
We believe poverty is not a personal failure—it’s a policy choice, and we organize to change it.
Education & Youth Support
Underfunded schools and limited resources hold too many of our young people back. We support efforts that expand access to:
-
School supplies and basic needs
-
After-school and enrichment programs
-
College and career guidance
-
Mental health and counseling services
Every child in Appalachia deserves a future filled with opportunity.
Civic Engagement & Community Power
Real change happens when people know their rights and use their voices.
A.R.I.S.E. Appalachia connects community members to:
-
Voter registration and election information
-
How to contact elected officials
-
Opportunities to run for office
-
Trainings on advocacy and organizing
-
Local meetings, hearings, and public forums
Democracy works best when everyone participates.
